President Donald Trump is keeping pressure on Cuba\u2019s communist regime while leaving open the possibility of future U.S. action as conditions on the island continue to deteriorate. In a recent interview, the president suggested that any potential operation involving Cuba could resemble the swift mission that removed Venezuelan leader Nicol\u00e1s Maduro from power earlier this year.\n<\/p>\n

When asked if such an operation could resemble the Jan. 3 helicopter-borne raid in Venezuela, Trump said, \u201cPossibly. It\u2019s possible.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The president said Secretary of State Marco Rubio is involved in the Cuba policy.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cMarco\u2019s doing a great job,\u201d Trump said. \u201cMarco\u2019s parents\u2014it\u2019s such a great story\u2014his parents were from Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s remarks follow months of escalating pressure on Havana. Since returning to office, his administration has reinstated a maximum-pressure strategy against the Cuban government, imposing additional sanctions and targeting state-controlled entities. Administration officials have also warned that Cuba\u2019s economic and political system appears increasingly fragile as shortages of food, medicine, fuel, and electricity continue to affect daily life across the island.\n<\/p>\n

One major factor behind Cuba\u2019s worsening crisis has been the loss of support from Venezuela.
