Dr. Pamela Pyle wasn\u2019t a believer when she started her career in medicine, but a series of supernatural events changed that reality.<\/p>\n
Pyle, author of Anticipating Heaven: Spiritual Comfort and Practical Wisdom for Life\u2019s Final Chapters<\/em>,\u00a0told CBN News she started practicing medicine in 1989 \u2014 a time when she and her husband didn\u2019t have a personal relationship with God.<\/p>\n WANT MORE MIRACLE STORIES? STREAM CBN\u2019S NEW FILM, \u201cINVESTIGATING THE SUPERNATURAL: MIRACLES\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cBeginning my practice in medicine \u2026 I saw so many things \u2014 acute cases, tragedies, accidents \u2014 that I didn\u2019t have a solution for,\u201d she said. \u201cAs a physician, it was discouraging, especially as a young physician. I had some really tragic cases early on.\u201d<\/p>\n But when Pyle reached her mid-30s, something happened that shifted her faith dynamic: her husband accepted Jesus after a near-death experience (NDE).<\/p>\n \u201cI was in the ambulance at the time,\u201d she recalled of the terrifying ordeal. \u201cHe was unconscious, and I didn\u2019t think he would survive. But Jesus did save him, both physically and spiritually.\u201d<\/p>\n Pyle said her husband experienced a \u201ccold darkness\u201d and a troubling NDE that left him thinking quite differently about life once he survived:<\/p>\n \u201cI think Jesus gave him that taste of death,\u201d she said, noting the experience eventually became part of the couple\u2019s testimony.<\/p>\n But Pyle said she wasn\u2019t initially receptive to the experience or the life change that followed.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen he recovered enough to be able to kind of relate this experience to me, and he was this transformed person, I wasn\u2019t very happy,\u201d she said, expressing her belief that the NDE was something other than supernatural. \u201cI was so \u2026 sure that he\u2019d had some kind of neurologic event due to low blood flow.\u201d<\/p>\n Even with neurological testing, though, everything came back normal. Over time, her husband\u2019s relationship with Jesus grew, and Pyle remained perturbed by it.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was reading the Bible, kind of hiding from me because I had a lot of anger then,\u201d she said, explaining her reluctance to embrace faith based on the past and wondering why her husband had so radically shifted and changed. \u201cHe prayed for me \u2026 for two years and we had a miracle in our life during that time.\u201d<\/p>\n Pyle\u2019s husband just kept praying as she journeyed, but then another event shocked the couple. Their son, who was born blind, experienced an incredible miracle: the return of his sight.<\/p>\n The healing started with what she described as \u201can incredible experience at a church,\u201d where people came up to pray over her son and family. She believes that prayer made an impact.<\/p>\n \u201cHe had nystagmus, which is that wandering of the eyes because there\u2019s nothing to focus on, and we just thought he was a really attentive watching everything,\u201d Pyle said. \u201cIt was a really hard experience for a good friend who was our pediatrician, having to tell us that he was blind.\u201d<\/p>\n After the aforementioned church service, Pyle\u2019s husband was changing his son\u2019s diaper. At the time, he was wearing a tie with stripes on it. He tossed the tie over his shoulder and his baby son suddenly looked at it and focused \u2014 something that shocked him.<\/p>\n The baby was focusing with his eyes.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was unreal,\u201d Pyle said. \u201cAs a non-believer then, I\u2019m like, \u2018Well \u2026 there\u2019s a medical explanation for this, which, it wasn\u2019t even until it was much later that [I] look back and go, \u2018Well, it had to have been a miracle.’\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cThe doctors, they didn\u2019t have an explanation for it.\u201d<\/p>\n Eventually, Pyle accepted Christ and now openly shares her faith, with these events helping her along the way.
