Chip Roy, R-Texas, is urging his GOP colleagues to “finish the job.”

Visit your state page to pray.

In a letter sent to House and Senate Republicans on Friday, Roy laid out his agenda for the rest of the 119th Congress, including codifying border security, pausing immigration, making America healthy, and protecting Americans from warrantless surveillance.

“We were elected to deliver what we promised the American people, not to campaign for reelection. Delivering on decisive policy mandates is the best way to grow a majority,” Roy wrote.

In his letter, the Texas congressman identifies 14 major points he is pushing the House and Senate to accomplish while Republicans still hold the majority. While six months remain until the start of the 120th Congress, there are fewer than 50 legislative days left in which representatives will be in session in Washington, D.C.

Pause Immigration

At the top of the list is to codify President Donald Trump’s border security policies. Roy wants Republicans to follow through on ending illegal immigration and pausing legal immigration and visa programs. In the letter, he calls to end free health care, education, and other taxpayer-subsidized benefits for illegal immigrants. He also wants Congress to defund sanctuary cities.

Roy highlighted immigration policy passed in the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” but he added it wasn’t enough. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, America loses $200 billion per year from illegal immigrants sending money back across the U.S. border to their home countries. The legislation taxes 1% on all remittances, but Roy is suggesting hiking remittance fees to “at least 25%.”

Also in the letter, Roy continued his calls for banning Sharia law and designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American–Islamic Relations as terrorist groups.

Second on the list is passing the SAVE America Act, which has currently stalled in the Senate. The legislation, aggressively promoted by Trump, would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, and photo ID at the polls, protecting American elections from ineligible voters and voter fraud.

.@chiproytx is pushing a FISA amendment to kill the vehicle kill switch, a Biden-era surveillance mandate.

“Republicans should not be continuing a blatantly invasive Biden-era policy that enables round-the-clock monitoring of Americans in their own cars,” Roy told the… pic.twitter.com/1MBuxdEkXE

— Virginia Grace McKinnon (@virginiagmck) April 27, 2026

Health and Energy

Roy’s letter also makes health a top priority. The Make America Healthy Again movement, led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is growing in popularity among conservatives. Roy called for expanded use of direct primary care and subsidies for health savings accounts, which he said would provide Americans with more options and choice for their health care needs.

He also urged his colleagues to defund abortion and transgender surgeries, ban soda and junk food from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and protect Americans from “poisons” in food, air, and water.

On energy issues, he urged the GOP to end the “Green Scam” by developing nuclear power, passing permitting reform, and repealing the renewable fuel standard that “cripples American refinery production.”

Banning Warrantless Surveillance

Finally, Roy called for a ban on warrantless surveillance, which he and other members of the House Freedom Caucus say is used to allow government to spy on American citizens. Other security and privacy items mentioned in the letter include separate bans on central bank digital currency, kill switches in automobiles, and the use of Flock cameras.

According to the Heritage Action Scorecard, Roy is one of the most conservative members in the House. The Texan lost the May GOP runoff election for state attorney general and is set to leave Congress in January 2027.

Share your prayers for Congress in the comments below.

This article was originally published at The Daily Signal.
