The case could have major implications for how gender-related medical treatments for minors are promoted in the United States.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleges the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) made misleading claims about medical treatments for children experiencing gender dysphoria. WPATH denies those allegations. At this stage, the court has not ruled on whether the claims are true. It has only decided that the lawsuit may continue.

Do you want state prayer alerts?

From The Epoch Times:

A federal judge on Friday let stand an FTC lawsuit alleging a transgender health nonprofit made misleading claims about gender-affirming care for minors, rejecting the organization’s request for an immediate block.

In his order, Chief Judge James E. Boasberg determined that the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) failed to meet the high bar for emergency relief.

“When parties seek an extraordinary remedy, they must make an extraordinary showing,” the judge wrote.

WPATH asked the court to temporarily stop the lawsuit. The organization argued that the FTC’s case violated its First Amendment rights. Judge James Boasberg disagreed. He ruled that WPATH had not shown it would suffer the kind of immediate harm needed to justify blocking the case before it could be heard.

The FTC filed the lawsuit in federal court in Texas with support from several states, including Iowa. The agency claims WPATH’s guidelines and public statements about medical treatments for minors violated federal laws against deceptive practices. Those allegations remain unproven and will now be examined as the case moves forward.

The lawsuit comes as the federal government takes a closer look at gender-related medical treatments for children. Earlier this year, the FTC opened a broader investigation into whether patients and families were given complete and accurate information about the risks of these treatments. The Department of Health and Human Services also released a report questioning whether some medical organizations presented these treatments as being backed by stronger scientific agreement than the evidence supports. In January, President Donald Trump signed an executive order limiting federal funding for certain gender-related medical interventions involving minors.

For us, this case is a reminder that children deserve protection and families deserve truthful information when making life-changing medical decisions. As the legal process continues, let us pray that the courts will uncover the truth, that leaders will act with wisdom and integrity, and that children and parents will be guided by what is honest and life-giving.

How are you praying about this issue?
