{"id":30568,"date":"2026-07-20T10:19:49","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T10:19:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=30568"},"modified":"2026-07-20T10:19:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T10:19:49","slug":"july-20th-chronological-bible-readings-chronological-bible-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=30568","title":{"rendered":"July 20th Chronological Bible Readings \u2013 Chronological Bible Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>Micah 6:1-7:20; 2 Chronicles 32:1-8; 2 Kings 18:13-18; Isaiah 36:1-3; 2 Kings 18:19-37; Isaiah 36:4-22<\/strong><\/span><br \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">~ Click here to read today\u2019s Scripture on Bible Gateway ~<\/span><\/em><br \/><span><em>~ Listen to today\u2019s Scripture with <\/em><em>The ESV Bible<\/em><\/span> ~<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>In Micah chapter 6 verse 8 I read a commentary that the following verse is the \u201cmost memorable statement in the OT defining a proper relationship to God\u201d.\u00a0 Here it is: <em>\u201cNo, O people, the LORD has already told you what is good, and this is what he requires: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0Not a very big and complicated list, eh?\u00a0 Do what is right.\u00a0 Love mercy.\u00a0 And walk humbly with God.\u00a0 How are you doing on these things?<\/span><br \/><span\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>Micah chapter 7 verse 7 definitely stood out to me in today\u2019s readings: <em>\u201cAs for me, I look to the LORD for his help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.\u201d <\/em>I love the confidence and surety of this verse from Micah.\u00a0 Where do you look for your help?\u00a0 Will you wait confidently for God to save you?\u00a0 Do you believe that God will certainly hear you?<\/span><br \/><span\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">In Isaiah chapter 36 today you probably noticed that we\u2019ve read this story about Sennacherib threatening Jerusalem before.\u00a0 In fact, much of Isaiah chapters 36 through 39 are sometimes verbatim of Second Kings 18:13 through 20:19.\u00a0 The compiler of Second Kings may have utilized Isaiah chapters 36 through 39 as a source, or it is also thought that both may have drawn from another common source.\u00a0 Today in chapter 36 we are in the year 701 B.C., and we get some bold boasts before the walls of Jerusalem by King Sennacherib of Assyria\u2019s representatives\u2026\u00a0 Verse 20 includes this boast, which didn\u2019t make God too happy: <em>\u201cWhat god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? Name just one!
