It is a significant win for the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

Post a prayer for your state!

From the Daily Caller:

The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled late Tuesday that illegal aliens do not have the constitutional right to roam the nation during their removal proceedings.

The ruling, led by Chief Judge Jennifer Elrod, appointed by George W. Bush, overturned the lower court’s decision granting bond hearings and releasing three illegal immigrants from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, putting the lower court’s orders on hold pending a full appeal.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Division’s Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate said the decision makes clear that “illegal aliens do not have a constitutional right to roam free in the United States during their removal proceedings.”

The case started with a man named Ignacio Sosnava Rodriguez, who was pulled over during a traffic stop in 2025. He had lived in Texas for 22 years but was in the country illegally. After ICE detained him, he argued in court that holding him without a bond hearing violated his constitutional rights. A lower court agreed with him, but the appeals court reversed that decision. Two other men in similar situations, Alejandro Villegas Angel and Miguel Angel Gomez, also had their cases put on hold by the same ruling.

The DOJ said this decision sets a strong legal standard that will apply to similar cases in the future. In short, the government now has clearer authority to keep people detained while their deportation cases move through the courts.

As intercessors, let us pray for wisdom for the DOJ and the courts as they investigate these illegal immigration incidents. We pray that the best outcome will happen, that justice and truth will reign in the United States, and that American citizens will be safe.

How are you praying about immigration policy and the role of the courts?
