The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the Department of Health and Human Services, which is led by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, transferred a copy of the phone\u2019s records to the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.\n<\/p>\n
Fauci used the phone during his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, according to The Journal, which also revealed that Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have obtained \u201cmillions of additional Fauci-related pages\u201d from government servers.\n<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire interviewed Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul, whose release of Fauci\u2019s private diaries helped set the stage for an explosive Capitol Hill hearing where Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times.<\/p>\n
The committee\u2019s investigation has intensified in recent weeks following the release of Fauci\u2019s personal diaries and extensive government records. Chairman Rand Paul argues that because President Joe Biden issued Fauci a preemptive pardon before leaving office, the former NIAID director could no longer claim a Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination when questioned by Congress. Paul has said he intends to send any approved contempt referral directly to the Department of Justice with a recommendation for prosecution, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune has indicated that a full Senate vote remains a possibility.\n<\/p>\n
The investigation also continues amid renewed scrutiny of the federal government\u2019s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Trump administration has highlighted evidence supporting the lab-leak theory, while multiple congressional investigations have examined pandemic-era decision-making, public health guidance, and communications among federal officials. Lawmakers say obtaining Fauci\u2019s phone records and additional government documents could help clarify what information was available to public health leaders and how key decisions were made during the national emergency.\n<\/p>\n
