Georgia Secretary of State\u00a0Brad Raffensperger\u00a0is starting a new, bipartisan election integrity task force prior to the midterm elections.\n<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The announcement comes following the announcement of the\u00a0FBI\u2019s\u00a0investigation into 708 records of\u00a0Fulton County\u2019s\u00a02020 election files.\n<\/p>\n
Raffensperger commented on the members of the task force in an interview, the Georgia Recorder reported.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThis group here, they\u2019re well-respected members of the community. They\u2019re on both sides of the aisle, but they are also recognized as being fair brokers of the truth,\u201d he said in\u00a0an interview with the news outlet.\n<\/p>\n
Mike Hassinger, public information coordinator for Raffensperger, commented on the purpose of the task force.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThe task force was created to examine any issues\u2014including voter list maintenance, public transparency, election misinformation, best practices for election administration, and county compliance with existing laws, rules, and standards,\u201d Hassinger told the Daily Signal.\n<\/p>\n
Additionally, the members \u201cwill assist with regional election worker trainings, appear at roundtable policy discussions and help coordinate with local election officials on the ground,\u201d according to the Georgia Recorder.\n<\/p>\n
The task force will include members on both sides of the political aisle, including Democrats like former Gov. Roy Barnes and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, and Republicans like former Sen. Saxby Chambliss and former Rep. Drew Ferguson.\n<\/p>\n
Hassinger says that the new task force is another effort by the state and Raffensperger to ensure \u201csecure elections.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\u201cSecretary Raffensperger has spent his two terms making sure that the state of Georgia has the most secure elections in America, and he intends to keep it that way through the remainder of his time in office,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cGeorgia\u2019s standards serve as a model for any state that needs to protect every legal vote and strengthen public confidence in the elections process.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
However, some have voiced distrust of the state\u2019s voting system.\n<\/p>\n
Mark Davis, president of Data Productions Inc. and a member of the Georgia Republican Party\u2019s Election Confidence Task Force, pointed to the controversies surrounding the 2020 election, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re ever going to know how much double voting really happened in Georgia.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
Davis told the Daily Signal that he conducted a residency analysis of the 2020 election and found \u201cthousands of residency violations.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\u201cAbout a minute later, I suddenly found myself staring at what I knew to be evidence of systemic irregularities in that election\u2014data suggesting we\u2019d had tens of thousands of residency violations as well as felony violations of other state and federal election laws,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n
