Singer Nicole C. Mullen is on a mission to inspire people to make \u201cgodly decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mullen said her new book, It\u2019s Never Wrong to Do the Right Thing: Courageous Stories to Inspire Godly Decisions<\/em>, was written to inspire others to look to the Lord as they navigate their lives.<\/p>\n \u201cI love it that it says over in Matthew 6:33, it gives us the formula,\u201d she said. \u201cIt tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness \u2014 His right way of doing things, His right standing, and then He promises that everything else that we need, whether it\u2019s relationships, finances, whether it\u2019s health, whether it\u2019s mental sanity \u2026 whatever it is that we need will be added.\u201d<\/p>\n Mullen said her book intends to encourage people in this area, explaining how being candid and sharing her journey with sin and struggle is helpful to others. This meant opening up about domestic violence, betrayal, and other personal matters.<\/p>\n Listen to the latest\u00a0episode\u00a0of \u201cQuick Start\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI know that even in my weakness, Christ is strong,\u201d she said. \u201cI say all the time, \u2018Lord, I bring my weakness to the table,\u2019 and sometimes it comes with embarrassing moments. Sometimes it comes with me not looking as good as I would want to look. But at the end of the day, He\u2019s always the hero; He\u2019s always the champion.\u201d<\/p>\n Mullen said she shared some personal anecdotes and stories in the book for that very reason. The singer pointed back to Scripture, too, where some raw and candid stories often show people\u2019s flaws.<\/p>\n \u201cEven in the Scriptures, I find that there are no perfect people except one \u2026 and that\u2019s Christ Himself,\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody else was messed up. Everybody else \u2026 just made horrible decisions and all kinds of things, but I find that, when they sought God \u2014 when they did it His way, He gave them success through it, even if it didn\u2019t turn out the way they thought.\u201d<\/p>\n With that in mind, Mullen said she brought together numerous stories showing this very dynamic in her book, It\u2019s Never Wrong to Do the Right Thing<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to pull out everyday people to show us that we don\u2019t have to be famous to make the right decision and have great impact,\u201d Mullen said. \u201cWe just have to be found faithful to do what God has called us to do in the moment, and, when we do that, and oftentimes it\u2019s in scary situations \u2014 it\u2019s in difficult times.\u201d<\/p>\n When we\u2019re faced with right or wrong, Mullen said God will show up and give us what we need.<\/p>\n \u201cEven if we don\u2019t see it in the moment, we can trust God to know that He\u2019s working together for our good and the benefit of other people as well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Ultimately, Mullen said Christians must show up and \u201cseek first the Kingdom of God\u201d in any and all seasons.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Bible speaks to everything,\u201d she said. \u201cEven though the cultures may have been different, human nature \u2026 still the same.
