{"id":32602,"date":"2026-10-04T07:51:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=32602"},"modified":"2026-10-04T07:51:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:51:15","slug":"october-4th-chronological-bible-readings-chronological-bible-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=32602","title":{"rendered":"October 4th Chronological Bible Readings \u2013 Chronological Bible Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>Matthew 8:5-13; Luke 7:1-17; Matthew 11:1-19; Luke 7:18-35; Matthew 11:20-30; Luke 7:36-50<\/strong><\/span><br \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">~ Click here to read today\u2019s Scripture on Bible Gateway ~<\/span><\/em><br \/><span style=\"color: black\"><em>~ Listen to today\u2019s Scripture with <\/em><em>The ESV Bible<\/em><\/span> ~<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span><strong>Luke:<\/strong> The passages on the faith of the centurion today are powerful \u2013 especially his words in Chapter 7 verse 7 \u2013<em> \u201cJust say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Can we learn something from the faith of the centurion in our lives today? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span><\/span><br \/><span>Bible.org\u2019s commentary on Luke chapter 7\u2019s readings titled <strong>\u201cJesus the Healer\u201d<\/strong> is at this link.<\/span> <strong\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>Wow\u2026. Verse 35 in Luke chapter 7 is such a profound teaching of Jesus\u2019 for each of us to consider: <em>\u201cBut wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.\u201d <\/em>Take a few moments to really meditate on this verse and what it means.\u00a0 For me this verse is a reminder that sometimes in life we have to move forward in faith on something \u201cwise\u201d we\u2019ve heard, but maybe not experienced \u2013 and then later see that the wisdom is true.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if I\u2019m going to explain myself well here\u2026 but my thought is that as followers of Jesus, I think we can get lazy in our faith at times.\u00a0 As just one example \u2013 maybe we don\u2019t think we really need to give financially to our church.\u00a0 We know the wisdom of <\/span><span>Malachi 3:10<\/span><span>, but maybe we haven\u2019t really experienced the wisdom of giving.\u00a0 So, maybe we need to follow the wisdom first \u2013 and then we will later know the full truth and beauty of the wisdom.\u00a0 Hope this makes sense?\u00a0 I\u2019d just say that if there is a struggle in your life that God is calling you to leave behind or move forward on \u2013 go for it!\u00a0 If you know you should be doing or not doing something \u2013 go with that wisdom you know and then it will \u201cshown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.\u201d\u00a0 Please follow Wisdom!\u00a0 Please follow Jesus!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>A nice image of John the Baptist sending two of his disciples to meet Jesus is below, from verses 18 &amp; 19 \u2013 <em>\u201cThe disciples of John the Baptist told John about everything Jesus was doing. So John called for two of his disciples, and he sent them to the Lord to ask him, \u201cAre you the Messiah we\u2019ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?\u201d<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>Bible.org\u2019s commentary on Luke chapter 7\u2019s readings today, titled <strong>\u201cJohn\u2019s Problem with Jesus\u201d<\/strong> is <\/span><span>at this link<\/span><span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span>In Luke chapter 7 today we read about the \u201cimmoral\u201d woman who kissed and put perfume on Jesus\u2019 feet.\u00a0 Verse 39 is a powerful testament to Jesus\u2019 character \u2013<em> \u201cWhen the Pharisee who was the host saw what was happening and who the woman was, he said to himself, \u201cThis proves that Jesus is no prophet. If God had really sent him, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She\u2019s a sinner!\u201d\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 How ironic\u2026 this Pharisee thought that Jesus was not sent from God because he let a sinner touch him \u2013 when indeed it is this very act that proves that Jesus was sent from God!\u00a0 Jesus loved everyone \u2013 and still loves everyone today \u2013 and wants to be in relationship with all of us.\u00a0 No matter what this woman\u2019s sins were.\u00a0 No matter what our sins were or are.\u00a0 Jesus loves us and wants to be in relationship with us.\u00a0 Like the woman in this story, will we humble ourselves and come before the feet of Jesus?\u00a0 And will we ignore those who might suggest we\u2019re not \u201cgood enough\u201d to be in relationship with God or Jesus?\u00a0 Remember, Jesus came to call the sinners, the sick \u2013 and not the righteous.\u00a0 Let\u2019s not act righteous before Jesus, but come to his feet as we really are and worship Him for who he truly is!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span> <\/span><br \/><span><strong>Worship Video: <\/strong>Today\u2019s readings reminded me of the fantastic worship song \u201cDid You Feel the Mountains Tremble?\u201d by Delirious.\u00a0 For some reason every time I hear the lyric \u201copen up the doors and let the music play, let the streets resound with singing\u201d I am reminded of a trip to the Dominican Republic I took several years ago to work on houses with Habitat for Humanity.\u00a0 Walking down the dusty streets of a tiny village in the DR I distinctly remember the doors being open, the music playing and the streets resounding with the singing of children playing.\u00a0 God\u2019s presence was so real and tangible to me on that dusty little village in the DR.\u00a0 I pray you\u2019ve had or will have a similar experience with God walking down \u201ca street that has no name!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>Comments from You:<\/strong>\u00a0 What verses or insights stand out to you in today\u2019s readings?\u00a0 Please post up by clicking on the \u201cComments\u201d link below!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">God bless,<br \/>Mike<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">p.s.
