Michael Iskander landed the role of a lifetime when he was cast to play David in Prime\u2019s new series \u201cHouse of David.”<\/p>\n
In a past interview with CBN News, Iskander reflected on the \u201clife-changing\u201d ability to join the cast in such a pivotal role.<\/p>\n
\u201cHouse of David\u201d Season 2 is now streaming exclusively on Wonder Project\u2019s subscription channel through Prime Video, with new episodes releasing every Sunday.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Here\u2019s an exclusive clip:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI think David is one of the most interesting people because \u2026 there\u2019s so much duality in him,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s the epitome of what it means to be human, to make mistakes, but to truly have a heart for God \u2014 and a heart that seeks after God\u2019s own heart.\u201d<\/p>\n Iskander, who said he feels \u201cblessed\u201d to be able to tell this story, explained how his experience portraying David transformed how he sees Scripture and the people presented within it.<\/p>\n \u201cNow, I view it from a point of view as just human beings,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd so I put the context of that time and of these people into the story \u2026 it just puts a whole different perspective on the Bible, and I think it makes it that much more interesting to read and to discover.\u201d<\/p>\n Listen to the latest\u00a0episode\u00a0of \u201cQuick Start\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Iskander said it\u2019s exciting to be able to have such a fascinating lens into Scripture. He spoke about the importance of trusting God and allowing the Lord to guide His path, citing Proverbs 3:5-6. In the end, he knows \u201cHouse of David\u201d is entertainment for many, but believes the project is really all about the Lord.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re making a TV show, and it\u2019s really fun, and your makeup and hair \u2014 it\u2019s all fun and cool, but the reason is to glorify Him, and to honor Him, and to put Him first,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that\u2019s one way it\u2019s changed me; it\u2019s allowed me to put perspective to all of this, and to life, and to realize why we are living life.\u201d<\/p>\n These insights have been infused into his performance as well, as he\u2019s taken the lessons learned and applied them to bringing the characters to life. The infamous battle between David and Goliath was one moment, in particular, that required Iskander to think deeper about what David must have been feeling.<\/p>\n \u201cI always thought of David being so courageous \u2026 so brave, but there\u2019s none of that without fear,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd finding all the stakes of what it means to be the only person from your entire people to choose to go up against the scariest man they have ever faced \u2026 and are you willing to truly give up everything in your life to protect the ones you love?\u201d<\/p>\n Iskander said this context surrounded how they filmed and presented the scene.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s beautiful \u2026 to just look at that and to live in it,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I can\u2019t wait for people to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n Ultimately, Iskander hopes the audience sees the characters of the Bible through the lens of truth and reality.<\/p>\n \u201cAs long as you see human beings in front of you \u2014 the Bible come to life \u2014 my job is done,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not my job to tell them how to feel; it\u2019s just my job to tell it truthfully.\u201d<\/p>\n Iskander also shared the fact that his foray into acting was essentially accidental.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was like the first two weeks of school, sophomore year and \u2026 we had switched seats that day, and I happened to sit next to my friend who was in, like, the choir,\u201d he said. \u201cAt that time, it happened to be that the director told all the students, \u2018Hey, if you guys get some boys to audition for the choir, cause we\u2019re low on boys, then I\u2019ll give you $10.’\u201d<\/p>\n His friend \u2014 seeking the $10 \u2014 asked if he\u2019s try out simple so she could grab the cash. Iskander said, \u201cSure,\u201d and ended up doing a great job. Before he knew it, he was in the choir and starring in musicals.
