And Pilate issued an order to release it to him. Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long linen cloth. He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock\u2026.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><br \/><span>Matthew 28 is one of the most important chapters of the Bible we will read this year! Jesus\u2019 resurrection is the key to the Christian faith.\u00a0 The resurrection is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy and of Jesus\u2019 own statements.\u00a0 The Christian faith stands or falls on the bodily resurrection of Jesus.\u00a0 We can read more about this important point from Paul in <\/span><span>1 Corinthians 15<\/span><span>.\u00a0 Tyndale Publishers outlines these 5 points in their commentary today that the resurrection guarantees:<br \/>1. Jesus was truly the Son of God. (<\/span><span>Romans 1:4<\/span><span>)<br \/>2. God the Father accepted what Jesus did at Calvary on the basis of the resurrection. (<\/span><span>Romans 4:25<\/span><span>)<br \/>3. Jesus as our Risen Lord pleads for his people before the Father. (<\/span><span>Romans 8:34<\/span><span>)<br \/>4. Believers have the hope of eternal life. (<\/span><span>1 Peter 1:3-5<\/span><span>)<br \/>5.
