Recently, a watchdog group posted an advertisement exposing the Democratic Socialists of America\u2019s (DSA) plans to destroy our capitalist society. The DSA, however, praised the ad, going so far as to call it a \u201cDSA recruitment ad for communists.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The Canary Mission\u2019s advertisement included recorded remarks from various leaders of the\u00a0Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)\u00a0describing their opposition to, and in some cases \u201chatred\u201d of the Democratic Party, which one speaker says must be torn down. The video also shared remarks from DSA leaders describing how the Democratic Party, which one of the socialist speakers in the video referred to as \u201ctoxic,\u201d can be used as a \u201ctool\u201d to push forward their aims of destroying the current capitalist society we live in.\n<\/p>\n

At the center of the ad was something Canary Mission referred to as the \u201ccuckoo analogy.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIn nature, the cuckoo survives by trickery. It lays its egg in another bird\u2019s nest. The unsuspecting parents raise the impostor as their own until the cuckoo grows strong enough to push the true chicks out,\u201d the video\u2019s narrator explains. \u201cThe DSA is the cuckoo inside the Democratic Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox notes that the Canary Mission\u2019s advertisement didn\u2019t bother the members of the DSA. Rather, the socialists applauded the ad. Nicol\u00e1s Vargas, a socialist associated with the Central Brooklyn branch of the DSA, said in response to the video, \u201cnew DSA recruitment ad for communists just dropped.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Allan Frasheri, an at-large delegate to the 2023 DSA Convention who spent time as a co-chair of the University of Florida\u2019s DSA chapter, disputed the idea that the DSA is being \u201cdeceptive,\u201d saying, \u201cDSA is loud and proud: we are fighting for a worker\u2019s party. Only a party of, by and for working people can bring about a better world. The Democratic Party is ultimately one for the billionaires.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Lastly, DSA organizer Miko Ludoviko called the video \u201cthe best DSA ad [he\u2019s] ever seen.\u201d He later said that the \u201cDemocratic Party is a tool we use for local elections, but it remains an enemy of the working class.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

This is especially significant because Zohran Mamdani, the leading candidate for mayor in New York City, is a member of the DSA. We can assume that Mamdani shares their beliefs and will enact destructive socialist policies if enacted. As one DS leader put it, \u201cwith Zohran, we\u2019re in basically the best possible position to seize state power that we can be in.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Today is election day, and the future of New York City hangs in the balance. Let\u2019s pray for God\u2019s will to be done!\n<\/p>\n
