The following form of evening prayers is taken from “The
Key of Heaven, a Manual of Prayer for the Use of the

Westminster. <\/p>\n
In the Name of the + Father,
\nand of the Son,
\nand of the Holy Ghost. <\/p>\n
Amen.<\/p>\n
O my God,
\nI believe that Thou art here present;
\nand that Thou observest all my actions,
\nall my thoughts,
\nand the most secret motions of my heart.
\nI adore Thee,
\nand I love Thee with my whole heart.
\nI return Thee thanks for all the benefits
\nwhich I have ever received from Thee,
\nand particularly this day.
\nGive me light, O my God,
\nto see what sins I have committed this day,
\nand grant me grace to be truly sorry for them.<\/p>\n
Here examine whether you have offended God during the day,
by any thought, word, or deed, or by neglect of any
duty.<\/p>\n
O my God,
\nwho art infinitely good in Thyself,
\nand infinitely good to me,
\nI am sorry,
\nand beg pardon for all my sins,
\nand detest them above all things,
\nbecause they deserve Thy dreadful punishments,
\nbecause they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus
Christ,
\nand, most of all,
\nbecause they offend Thine infinite goodness;
\nand I firmly resolve,
\nby the help of Thy grace,
\nnever to offend Thee again,
\nand carefully to avoid the occasions of sin.<\/p>\n
Here put yourself in the disposition you desire to be
found at the hour of death. <\/p>\n
O my God,
\nI accept of death as an act of homage and adoration
\nwhich I owe to Thy Divine Majesty,
\nas a punishment justly due to my sins,
\nin union with the death of my dear Redeemer,
\nand as the only means of coining to Thee,
\nmy beginning and last end.<\/p>\n
Into Thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit;
\nLord Jesus, receive my soul.<\/p>\n
O holy Mary,
\nbe a mother to me.<\/p>\n
May the blessed Virgin Mary,
\nSaint Joseph,
\nand all the Saints,
\npray for us to our Lord,
\nthat we may be preserved this night from sin and all
evils. <\/p>\n
Amen.<\/p>\n
O my good Angel,
\nwhom God has appointed to be my guardian,
\nwatch over me during this night.<\/p>\n
All ye Angels and Saints of God,
\npray for me.<\/p>\n
May our Lord bless us,
\nand preserve us from all evil,
\nand bring us to life everlasting. <\/p>\n

And may the souls of the faithful departed,
