Fenton, Vicar General, <br \/>Westminster. <\/p>\n<p>In the Name of the + Father, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand of the Son, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand of the Holy Ghost. <\/p>\n<p>Amen.<\/p>\n<p>O my God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nI believe that Thou art here present; <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand that Thou observest all my actions, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nall my thoughts, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand the most secret motions of my heart. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nI adore Thee, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand I love Thee with my whole heart. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nI return Thee thanks for all the benefits <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nwhich I have ever received from Thee, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand particularly this day. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nGive me light, O my God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nto see what sins I have committed this day, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand grant me grace to be truly sorry for them.<\/p>\n<p>Here examine whether you have offended God during the day, <br \/>by any thought, word, or deed, or by neglect of any <br \/>duty.<\/p>\n<p>O my God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nwho art infinitely good in Thyself, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand infinitely good to me, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nI am sorry, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand beg pardon for all my sins, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand detest them above all things, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nbecause they deserve Thy dreadful punishments, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nbecause they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus <br \/>Christ, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand, most of all, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nbecause they offend Thine infinite goodness; <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand I firmly resolve, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nby the help of Thy grace, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nnever to offend Thee again, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand carefully to avoid the occasions of sin.<\/p>\n<p>Here put yourself in the disposition you desire to be <br \/>found at the hour of death. <\/p>\n<p>O my God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nI accept of death as an act of homage and adoration <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nwhich I owe to Thy Divine Majesty, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nas a punishment justly due to my sins, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nin union with the death of my dear Redeemer, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand as the only means of coining to Thee, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nmy beginning and last end.<\/p>\n<p>Into Thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit; <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nLord Jesus, receive my soul.<\/p>\n<p>O holy Mary, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nbe a mother to me.<\/p>\n<p>May the blessed Virgin Mary, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSaint Joseph, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand all the Saints, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\npray for us to our Lord, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nthat we may be preserved this night from sin and all <br \/>evils. <\/p>\n<p>Amen.<\/p>\n<p>O my good Angel, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nwhom God has appointed to be my guardian, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nwatch over me during this night.<\/p>\n<p>All ye Angels and Saints of God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\npray for me.<\/p>\n<p>May our Lord bless us, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand preserve us from all evil, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nand bring us to life everlasting. <\/p>\n<p>Amen.<\/p>\n<p>And may the souls of the faithful departed, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nthrough the mercy of God, <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nrest in peace. <\/p>\n<p>Amen.&#13;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Evening Prayers The following form of evening prayers is taken from &#8220;The Key of Heaven, a Manual of Prayer for the Use of the Faithful&#8221;, Imprimatur P.
