In a sinful world, lies and deceit never take a break. That’s why, as believers, we must always be on guard with the Holy Spirit as our radar.
The first lie told by the Left this week revolves around a Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley, which featured comedian Rob Schneider and Christian apologist Dr. Frank Turek. Trouble began when a fight broke out between two men, leaving one with blood gushing from his face. Videos circulating online show protesters with their faces covered by bandanas and head scarves. Agitators nearby dawned shield masks and held batons, attempting to break through police barricades, and clashing with both attendees and law enforcement.
Antifa Agitators
Antifa ruffians screamed about fascism and Nazis, all the while hurling one expletive after another. One student protestor said “Events like this should never happen on this campus or anywhere again,” while another one added, “Go somewhere else, we don’t want you here.”
Andy Ngo, a journalist who documents Antifa and left-wing protests, explained that the violence “was organized by the violent outsider Antifa group, By Any Means Necessary. The group was involved in organizing prior Antifa attacks on the campus and in the city.”
A flyer posted by the radical organization is titled, “Berkeley: End Fascist Turning Point’s Youth-Oriented Campaign of Incitement to Violence.” The bullet points state, “Condemn in Action Turning Point’s Packaging of the Program of a Neofascist America,” as well as “Protest Turning Point to Make it Clear it is a White Nationalist, Neofascist Organization.” Another bullet point says, “Defend Black, Latino/a, LGBT+, Immigrant, and Minority Students, Faculty, and Staff from All Fascist Intimidation and Attacks on Individual Liberty and All Human Rights.”
TPUSA Will Not Be Intimidated
Even amidst the chaos, teargas, heckling and protesting, the organizers of the TPUSA event said they had a “packed house,” and will continue their mission of speaking to the youth of America.
The protesters and Antifa groups that oppose TPUSA use the same talking points and divisive language, but their goal isn’t to save America from fascists. Their propaganda and name-calling are an attempt to deflect their true motives, which are to install Marxist values and leaders into our society that will destroy our nation’s foundation.
The truth is that we need groups like TPUSA to keep fighting the good fight while visiting colleges throughout the nation. We must continue praying for their protection and success.
BBC Deliberately Skews the Truth
The second lie told by the Left this week involves a BBC documentary that was edited to make it look like President Donald Trump had promoted an attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. A memo written by Michael Prescott, an independent adviser to the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee, was released by the Telegraph and highlighted the “BBC’s biased, misleading, and untruthful reporting.”
The BBC documentary was edited using video clips that were spliced together from separate parts of President Trump’s speech on January 6 that make it seem like he was “exhorting his supporters to go down and fight on Capitol Hill.”
President Trump’s comments were falsely reported as:
“We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore.”
What President Trump actually stated was this:
“We are gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
The part about “We fight like Hell” didn’t come until 54 minutes later. Thus, the splicing of the video was meant to change the meaning of President Trump’s words. But that wasn’t all that the BBC did.
The speech clip in the BBC documentary was followed by images of Trump’s supporters known as the Proud Boys, “marching towards Congress.” As investigative journalist Melanie Phillips explains, “This created the impression that these supporters had taken up his ‘call-to-arms’ that wasn’t. In fact, the Proud Boys had marched to Capitol Hill before Trump had started speaking.”
BBC’s Bias Toward Jews
Prescott’s memo also calls out the BBC Arabic’s coverage of the Gaza War, explaining that “Arab aggression” was downplayed, as well as “Israeli victimization” in order “to minimize Israeli suffering and paint Israel falsely as the aggressor.”
Prescott also pointed out that a “BBC Arabic regular,” Ahmed Qannan, had appeared on the channel at least 217 times between February 2024 and April 2025 as a “journalist from Gaza,” but this is the same man who applauded those who kill Israelis as “heroes.” Another so-called journalist, Ahmed Alagha, who appeared over 500 times on BBC Arabic TV and radio, had previously described Jewish people as “devils.”
If that weren’t enough, Prescott alleges that the senior BBC executives repeatedly failed to implement measures to resolve problems of bias. He specified, “On no other occasion in my professional life have I witnessed what I did at the BBC with regard to how management dealt with (or failed to deal with) serious recurrent problems.”
The mainstream media in both America and abroad have been taken captive by propagandists and liars. The sad fact is that whether it’s the United States, Europe, or anywhere else in the world, one cannot simply read the news and expect the truth. In this day and age, one must carefully research “facts,” while discerning all motives and political angles.
Liberal Justice Doesn’t Pay
The third lie told by the Left this week is about a Democratic Minneapolis city councilman who found out the hard way that liberal criminal justice reforms are a very bad idea.
To his shock and surprise, Councilman Jamal Osman was carjacked just a few days after winning reelection. He campaigned with the promise of “restorative justice programs for lower-level offenses,” “alternative responses to some 911 calls,” and “violence prevention programs.” While those promises sounded great in a speech, they would end up haunting him when he became the victim of a crime that warranted more than just a slap on the wrist.
Rethinking His Liberalism
Interestingly enough, Osman decided that the perpetrators who carjacked him were deserving of real consequences. “I’m not a legal expert, but there has to be some kind of consequences with the action. If individuals know they can get away [with] this kind of heinous behavior or crimes, they’re going to continue doing it again.”
Osman took office in 2020 and was endorsed by Democrat Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, as well as former socialist mayoral candidate Omar Fateh. While seen by the Left as “progressive,” his policies haven’t reduced crime, but rather allowed it to skyrocket. World News Daily reports that “Minneapolis experienced an overwhelming majority of carjackings and murders in 2024, with 329 and 77, respectively, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension data shows. It was the only Minnesota city to surpass single-digit numbers for those crimes. Homicides increased by 6% since 2023, and carjackings rose by 21%, according to the BCA.”
Osman was carjacked by two juveniles who were already “known” to police, and had been involved in another incident involving a stolen car. Osman was sitting in his Volkswagen SUV with his door partly open when the two teenagers, one with mace, and the other “motioning to his waistband as though he had a gun,” approached him. Osman immediately gave his keys to the pair and got out of his car.
While Osman was unharmed, and the teens were eventually caught, one wonders if he will consider changing his crime reform strategies.
The Left seems to think that going soft on crime is “kind,” and will lead to less racism, reduce incarceration rates, and increase the public’s trust. In effect, the results of liberal criminal code reforms are causing chaos as cities like Chicago, Washington D.C., and Portland have seen surges in violent crime. Public trust is at an all-time low as residents do not feel safe in their own neighborhoods.
The Left wants Americans to believe that criminals should get a free pass, but it’s more than obvious that if criminals do not pay, the law-abiding citizens will be the ones to foot the disastrous bill.
Lord Jesus, the enemy’s native tongue is lying, but we have the truth of Your Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us away from false narratives. Give us clear discernment in everything that we read, or encounter in the media.
