    Reading Time: 7 minutes

From December 18th through the 21st, TPUSA held its annual gathering in Phoenix, Arizona. AMFest, which celebrates faith, freedom, and American values, also sought to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, while continuing his mission to reach young Americans. While the barrage of adverse reports and smearing of TPUSA continues, intercession remains at the forefront of our nation’s needs. God opened a door for IFA to be a part of something extraordinary. It was an opportunity to see the power of God on full display, touching people’s lives.

TPUSA contacted Intercessors for America to have a prayer room during the AMFest. IFA’s Arizona State Prayer Leaders, Troy and Jenny Hallstrom, and several IFA intercessors prayed through the entire event. They shared some warming testimonies about how the power of God was touching lives. “We arrived early and were encountering warfare. On the first day, a team of intercessors came to pray before the event. We decided to take communion together and to do a prayer walk around the grounds, praying in the Spirit. The word that came forth was “holy ground”, so we marched and decreed and declared that space was holy ground, they said.

    It Always Begins with Prayer

This prayer room, TPUSA requested, was an answer to a young man from Oregon’s prayer. He told Troy and Jenny that last year at AMFest, he was sick and asked for a chapel or a place to pray, but there was none. This young man began to pray every day that the AMFest would have places to pray. One year later, he was thrilled to see his prayer come to fruition and to share how God answered it. The Bible tells us in James 5:16 that the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much,” in other words, heartfelt prayer produces results.

“We had people of all ages coming to the prayer room, and it wasn’t easy to find either. It was located on the second floor. You had to go up escalators; there were winding hallways, but the people showed up. It was an answer to prayer. Troy and I prayed, ‘Lord, lead the people.’

And sure enough, people said they felt led to come to the prayer room. The Holy Spirit was really moving,” Jenny said.

Jenny asked everyone who attended if they wanted prayer or a quiet time. Troy said that 90% of the people who went requested prayer, and the 10% that wanted quiet time. But when the people saw how the others receiving prayer were encountering the Presence of the Lord, they soon asked for prayer too. Afterwards, the people lingered even after the prayers; nobody wanted to leave.

One man who went for prayer had a rotator cuff injury in his shoulder. After receiving prayer, he began to notice immediate relief in his shoulder. He lifted his hand and felt no pain whatsoever and shouted, “This is awesome!” The Lord told him that the prayer room was a large prayer closet.

Troy met a young Hindu woman who went into the prayer room. After twenty minutes of conversation with her about Jesus, he prayed that she receive salvation, and she made Jesus her Lord and Savior that day. She excitedly went to find her parents and tell them. “The Holy Spirit drew her to the room,” Troy said.

Jenny said that two female and one male LDS student went into the prayer room. “They requested prayers for their TPUSA chapter to have more kids sign up.  When we offered to pray with anointing oil on them, they said, no, thank you. Being LDS, they aren’t allowed to be anointed with oil, although they did accept prayer. Jenny and Troy weren’t discouraged in the least. They said, “We believe that we planted the seeds, and now God will send someone to water them”. After all, what are the odds that Mormons would start a TPUSA chapter and go into a prayer room asking for prayer, unless the Spirit of the Lord led them there?

“Each day was different. The Holy Spirit ministered to people as he wanted. He moved powerfully because we had no agenda of our own, no programs. We were just there to pray. All we had in the room was a table with chocolate candies for the intercessors and attendees who came for prayer, some tracts, and some New Testament Bibles provided by Turning Point Faith,” they said.

Day two was marked by deep intercession. It was different than day one. This time, sixty-four people showed up. “The day was marked with deliverance. Many people needed to be healed from trauma. So, we prayed for them and bound the spirits associated with them. The people came for prayer in tears but left filled with the joy of the Lord. Of course, we had more salvation and several rededications, Troy said.

“On the third day, the attendance was the highest, with over one hundred people coming for prayer. There was a steady stream of people coming in. The Holy Spirit ministered to each person individually. He was lifting off heaviness, guilt, and shame. He gave direction and words of encouragement not to quit. People sought prayer for wisdom and discernment, the restoration of relationships, purity for those seeking a godly spouse, and many salvations. The goodness and love of God touched people. We broke into new ground,” Troy and Jenny shared.

“After receiving prayer, people said they felt much better. Their countenance was changed. It was noticeable on their faces; they glowed and were filled with joy,” Jenny said. “The TPUSA Faith Director was excited by the number of people who came and received prayer.”

The attendees not only requested prayer for themselves & their families, but also for the TPUSA chapters in their schools and for the TPUSA/Turning Point Action leadership staff at Headquarters to remain Christ-centered, as Charlie did. They prayed for the speakers to speak truthfully and not from their own personal agendas. What an encouragement to see people coming together to pray for this ministry. This is a great way to continue to intercede for TPUSA or any ministry.

Since the day of Charlie’s assassination, the enemy has been hard at work, trying to sully the name of TPUSA and smear his legacy. There is so much division being sown, and the media is complicit in spreading conspiracies and hatred, even amongst conservatives and Christians. On social media, clips from the three days of AMFest circulated, making it seem as if the event were rife with controversy and contempt. Troy and Jenny said that some people went upstairs, noted the divisive atmosphere downstairs, and when they stepped into the prayer room, they immediately sensed God’s presence. So, they prayed His Presence would saturate the bottom floor where the speakers were.

Isn’t it like the mainstream media to take a clip and make a whole smear campaign to divide the people? While the internet was fighting over the speakers, people were being healed, delivered, saved, and filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the good news! This is the gospel of Jesus Christ happening in our day, but if we continue to fix our eyes on everything else, we’ll miss these miracles. If we listen to the sound of all the other voices, how will we hear the voice of the Lord?

Troy and Jenny said that the young people in the TPUSA chapters attended from all over America – from Alaska to New York and every state in between! These young adult men and women were full of faith and on fire for Jesus. “The first day was 10-1, young adult men, but the young adult ladies caught up! All these young adults were all in for Jesus. Most of them carried a spirit of excellence and leadership. These will be the new leaders of America! We encouraged the young adult males to remain strong in their faith, “because strong men build strong families, which build strong churches, which build strong cities, which build strong states, and which build a strong America.” We also encouraged all the young adult men & ladies to get involved with their local legislative districts and city councils! They were very excited to hear that they have a voice in the building of America,” they said.

Doesn’t hearing these testimonies give you hope? It wasn’t just hearing how people were touched by His Presence, but knowing there is a younger generation that is all in for Jesus. That is something mainstream media will not share with you.

Troy and Jenny ended by offering a word of encouragement as we go into 2026. “We know the verse in Isaiah 60:1 that talks about the glory of the Lord rising over us. It also mentions great darkness over the face of the Earth. We cannot focus on the hard times or the darkness; we must focus on the glory of the Lord. What is God doing in our nation? What does God want to do? That is where we must set our gaze. We can’t be caught up in our rituals of it’s always been done this way. We must be willing to enter uncharted territory.”

A scripture God is speaking to them is Psalm 65:11, “You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” They are praying that 2026 will be crowned with the goodness of God. Troy mentioned Hebrews 6:5, those who have tasted the power of the coming age.” The Millennium has yet to come, but we are to pull from that age to ours. We must go about and do good in season and out of season and occupy till He comes.”

Troy said he believed these 3 days at AMFest were a day of small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10), and he and Jenny are praying this will not be the last time TPUSA incorporates prayer rooms into their events, but it would be just the beginning. The Lord said, he rejoices to see the work begin, and seeds were planted, and now we are believing for good fruit to manifest from what God did in Arizona.

Father, we thank you for this open door for IFA, for faithful intercessors who have committed to holding the line and standing in the gap to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done. We agree with Hallstrom’s prayer that we will see prayer rooms in every TPUSA event, because it aligns with Your will to raise houses of prayer. We know and agree with Your Word that effectual fervent prayer produces results. This is what we want for our nation: we want to see you shift the narrative. Let your glory arise and shine over America, in Jesus’ name, amen.
