Help repair a church in Puerto Rico with Mission Journeys
Put your skills to work serving our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico! Mission Journeys is looking for 4-6 volunteers to serve in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Nov. 15-20, 2026, helping make needed repairs to a church building owned by the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church of Puerto Rico, WELS’ sister church on the island.
Volunteers will help with several hands-on projects, including:
- Sealing the concrete roof
- Repairing the interior concrete ceiling covering in two rooms and two bathrooms
- Replacing kitchen cabinets
- Interior painting
Handyman experience is preferred, but volunteers won’t be tackling the projects alone. Missionary Ángel Otero of the One Latin America Team will serve as project manager and provide direction throughout the work. Pastor Sergio Cortijo, who serves the congregation in San Juan, will also be there to work alongside the team. Spanish is not required.
Materials, local transportation, and lodging are provided. Volunteers are responsible for their round-trip airfare to Puerto Rico.
