"Go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say." Exodus 4:12 (KJV)
Imagine this: you are standing in the middle of your ordinary life, tending to your responsibilities, when suddenly the supernatural breaks in. A bush is on fire, but it is not consumed. A voice speaks directly to you, saying, “I have seen the misery of my people. I have heard their cries. I have come down to rescue them.” That is what happened to Moses.
You might think that after such an extraordinary encounter, Moses would jump immediately into action. But he didn’t. He hesitated. He offered excuse after excuse. First, he said, “Who am I that I should go?” He felt ordinary and unqualified. The first thing you have to overcome if God is ever going to use you is that inferiority that says you’re a nobody. God’s response to Moses was simple yet powerful: “I know. I will be with you.” That promise remains for you today. You do not have to be extraordinary. You do not have to have every skill or every answer. You and God together are an unbeatable team.
Next, Moses said, “I don’t know what to say.” How often do you feel that way? You are called to step out in faith, to speak truth, to help, to minister, or to act, and you feel inadequate. But God said, “I will tell you what to say.” Every time you move in obedience, God provides the words, the wisdom, and the power you need.
Moses’s origin story reminds us that God’s plan does not depend on our strength, our knowledge, or our preparation. It depends on our willingness to step into what He calls us to do. As the President of the Corporation Service Master once said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly the first time.” If you wait for perfection, you may wait forever. Sometimes God calls you to act before you feel ready. When you do, He meets you in your willingness.
When God says, “I have come to rescue,” He equips you to be the answer. He places His authority, His guidance, and His presence with you. The ordinary becomes extraordinary when God shows up. You are not too small, too ordinary, or too unprepared. God sees your heart. God equips your hands. God goes with you. Your obedience unlocks the miracle that God has already planned. Just as Moses was called to deliver his people, you are called to bring light, hope, and change into the world around you. Trust God’s presence and step forward. Your “yes” becomes the channel through which His power flows.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for calling me, even when I feel ordinary and unprepared. Help me overcome the lies of inferiority that tell me I am a nobody. Teach me what to say, guide my steps, and remind me that You are with me. Give me courage to act, even when I feel inadequate, and let Your presence accomplish through me what I could never do on my own. Amen.
