A Pennsylvania court has issued a sweeping ruling on abortion, advancing abortion access while striking down long-standing protections against taxpayer funding. The decision marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing national debate over life and the role of government in safeguarding the unborn.

Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.

    From Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Monday upheld the right to abortion as constitutionally protected, while striking down the state’s 1982 ban on Medicaid-funded abortions.

The lawsuit in question was brought by reproductive health clinic Allegheny Reproductive Health Center, in East Liberty, as well as Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania, which has clinics Downtown and in Johnstown, Bridgeville and Greensburg, among other reproductive health organizations.

“Those choices are the people’s, not the government’s,” Judge Matthew S. Wolf wrote about the right to abortion in Pennsylvania. “We agree with the (abortion) providers that recognizing this fundamental right, as the plurality did, is necessary to restrict state government to its proper sphere, thus protecting our liberty.”

The ruling from the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court not only declares abortion a constitutional right within the state, but also opens the door for taxpayer-funded abortions through Medicaid. This overturns a decades-old safeguard that restricted public funding except in the most extreme circumstances, raising serious concerns among those who believe taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund the ending of innocent life.

True justice protects both mother and child, and expanding abortion access—especially with public funding—moves the state further away from that ideal. While abortion advocates celebrated the ruling as a victory, it represents a profound moral and legal shift that elevates abortion while ignoring the rights of the unborn and the truth of Scripture.

As intercessors, we are reminded that every life is created by God with purpose and value. In moments like this, let’s pray for our courts and leaders—that truth would prevail, that hearts would be changed, and that our nation would once again choose to protect life at every stage.

Share your prayers for life in the comments.
