As concerns continue to grow over what children are exposed to in entertainment and media, the Federal Communications Commission is exploring whether television ratings should do more to inform parents about gender-related content in children’s programming. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr says the goal is not government control, but empowering parents to make informed decisions for their families.

From Breitbart:
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr told Breitbart News at a press conference on Wednesday that parents are increasingly concerned about transgender content in children’s television as the agency considers updating television ratings.
Breitbart News reported about how the FCC Media Bureau is seeking comment on if the agency should update television ratings to warn parents about children’s programs that discuss “gender identity” and other controversial topics.
The agency has said that it has “significant concerns” with how the ratings system operates, with a lot of content that is meant for adults now being rated as appropriate for children.
Carr explained that the television ratings system was originally created to help parents navigate concerns about violence and mature content, but he noted that many parents today are raising concerns about ideological messaging and gender-related themes appearing in children’s programming. The FCC is now evaluating whether the ratings system should better reflect those concerns so families have clearer information before deciding what their children watch.
He emphasized that parents — not the government — should ultimately make these decisions for their children. However, he argued that many families currently lack the information needed to make fully informed choices, especially as entertainment platforms and children’s programming evolve rapidly.
The FCC’s broader agenda also included action on robocall scams, rural broadband access, and modernization efforts related to emergency communications systems. Still, the discussion surrounding children’s programming and parental rights has drawn significant public attention as debates over education, media, and cultural values continue nationwide.
Scripture makes clear that parents carry the responsibility of training and guiding their children in truth. In a culture increasingly shaped by competing worldviews, transparency and parental involvement matter more than ever. Let’s pray for parents and our leaders as they work to protect kids!
