“Throughout my life, I have seen the faithfulness of God guiding my steps, even in seasons when I did not fully understand where he was leading me,” Sacha De Souza says. “Looking back, I can see how he placed people along my path to lead me closer to him.”
Sacha’s journey took shape when she was training to become a teacher. One of her classmates was a member of St. John’s and teacher at the school and would often invite her to St. John’s to study with her.
“Each time I went, I felt welcomed,” Sacha recalls. “It was peaceful and filled with a strong sense of community, and what began as a place to work soon became a place where I felt I belonged.”
Those visits gradually led to something more. Sacha began attending worship and learning about the teachings of the Lutheran church. She enrolled in New Member Foundation classes, became part of the congregation, and today serves as Grade 3 teacher at St. John’s. God knew all along what lay ahead and planned for it—Sacha’s need for a Christian community and the school’s need for a Lutheran teacher.
“Now my greatest desire is to live faithfully for him, serving him in my spiritual walk, in his church, and in the classroom where he has called me to teach,” shares Sacha.
