A Senate investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci is entering a new phase after lawmakers reportedly obtained records from the cellphone he used during the COVID-19 pandemic. The development comes just before a committee vote that could recommend holding the former public health official in contempt of Congress.

From the Daily Wire:
The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the Department of Health and Human Services, which is led by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, transferred a copy of the phone’s records to the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
Fauci used the phone during his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, according to The Journal, which also revealed that Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have obtained “millions of additional Fauci-related pages” from government servers.
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire interviewed Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul, whose release of Fauci’s private diaries helped set the stage for an explosive Capitol Hill hearing where Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times.
The committee’s investigation has intensified in recent weeks following the release of Fauci’s personal diaries and extensive government records. Chairman Rand Paul argues that because President Joe Biden issued Fauci a preemptive pardon before leaving office, the former NIAID director could no longer claim a Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination when questioned by Congress. Paul has said he intends to send any approved contempt referral directly to the Department of Justice with a recommendation for prosecution, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune has indicated that a full Senate vote remains a possibility.
The investigation also continues amid renewed scrutiny of the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Trump administration has highlighted evidence supporting the lab-leak theory, while multiple congressional investigations have examined pandemic-era decision-making, public health guidance, and communications among federal officials. Lawmakers say obtaining Fauci’s phone records and additional government documents could help clarify what information was available to public health leaders and how key decisions were made during the national emergency.
As intercessors, we should pray that truth is brought to light and that those entrusted with public authority conduct themselves with honesty and integrity. Scripture reminds us that “nothing is concealed that will not be disclosed” (Luke 12:2). Regardless of the outcome of this investigation, let’s ask God to establish justice, expose what needs to be revealed, and grant our nation’s leaders the wisdom to act righteously.
