President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to designate the radical anti-Israel group Palestine Action as a global terrorist organization, potentially bringing sweeping consequences for the organization and its supporters. The move comes amid allegations that the group has promoted politically motivated violence and encouraged its tactics beyond the United Kingdom.

Palestine Action was founded in Britain in 2020 and has targeted companies and facilities connected to Israel’s defense industry. Its activists have carried out disruptive demonstrations, vandalized property, and broken into facilities as part of campaigns intended to undermine companies doing business with Israel.
Four Palestine Action activists were recently imprisoned after being convicted in connection with an attack on an Israeli defense company’s facility in Britain that caused approximately £1.2 million—or $1.6 million—in property damage.
The group has also drawn scrutiny over confrontations with British law enforcement. According to a U.S. official quoted by the British press, Palestine Action has supported “numerous acts of terrorism” since 2020, including incidents in which British police officers were physically injured.
U.S. officials are particularly concerned that the organization’s methods and ideology are spreading internationally. Palestine Action has publicized its activities on social media and, according to the official, encouraged similar tactics in other countries, including the United States.
A related American organization, Unity of Fields, was formerly known as Palestine Action U.S. The organization has similarly targeted businesses associated with Israel and participated in disruptive demonstrations against the U.S. government.
The anticipated designation comes as the Trump administration places greater emphasis on combating political violence associated with far-left movements. Secretary of State Marco Rubio argued last month that the threat posed by such movements has often been dismissed.
“The very idea that far-left terrorism could be a serious threat is treated as a right-wing fever dream, or worse, as a dangerous fascist conspiracy,” Rubio said.
The consequences of a terrorist designation could be significant. According to reports, the action would freeze any U.S.-based assets belonging to Palestine Action and could prevent its founders and supporters from entering the United States. Providing prohibited financial or material support could also expose individuals to civil or criminal penalties under U.S. law.
Britain took similar action against Palestine Action last year, banning the organization under its terrorism laws. The Trump administration’s planned designation would further isolate the organization and increase pressure on those accused of financing or assisting its activities.
The development also comes amid heightened concern about anti-Israel activism crossing the line from protected political expression into intimidation, vandalism, or violence. Whatever the political cause, Americans have a vital interest in maintaining the distinction between peaceful protest—which is protected by the First Amendment—and violence or destruction carried out in pursuit of political objectives.
As the administration considers this designation, let’s pray for wisdom and discernment for President Trump, Secretary Rubio, and other officials responsible for protecting the nation. Pray that violent movements would be exposed and restrained, that law enforcement would have wisdom in confronting genuine threats, and that America would continue to protect both public safety and the constitutional freedoms of peaceful citizens.
