Federal agents have struck a blow against the financial pipeline fueling foreign terrorism, seizing roughly $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly intended for Hamas’s Al Qassam Brigades and taking control of the group’s online fundraising and recruitment network. At the same time, Israeli forces have dealt a significant operational blow to Hamas’s command structure, capturing the head of the terror group’s internal security apparatus in a joint raid in Gaza City. Together, the two developments underscore the dual-pronged fight against Hamas: cutting its money and dismantling its leadership.

    From The Epoch Times:

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that special forces from the Shin Bet intelligence agency captured him in a joint operation with the military. He was taken to Israel for questioning, the Israeli military stated, noting that it would continue operations against Hamas in the area to prevent attacks on troops and civilians.

“He is one of Hamas’ most senior leaders and was responsible for concealing and moving our hostages, hiding senior Hamas officials, building up the organization’s forces, and efforts to restore the terrorist organization’s capabilities,” Netanyahu said in a Sept. 1 post on X.

The IDF stated that Badawi and another Hamas member, Momo Saeed Mohammed Hawari, were killed in an airstrike after they recently advanced attacks against Israeli troops and civilians and worked to rebuild Hamas’s military capabilities, which Israel described as a violation of the October 2025 ceasefire.

The Department of Justice and FBI seized the cryptocurrency and took control of Hamas-linked fundraising and recruitment domains and servers, according to a Fox Business report. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro called the operation a “massive blow against foreign terrorism” and said Hamas’s crypto networks were not secure. Investigators identified a Hamas-linked group chat on an encrypted platform directing supporters to fundraising sites and rotating crypto addresses. Human-source information gathered on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025, helped investigators trace and seize the funds.

The FBI reportedly obtained the names and identities of thousands of individuals who contacted Hamas online to donate or attempt to donate. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said the seizures deprive Hamas of resources used for online recruitment, radicalization, and financing attacks, including the October 7, 2023, attack. The DOJ said the information gathered will support ongoing FBI counterterrorism investigations.

In Gaza, the capture of Moin Al-Arabeed, head of Hamas’s internal security apparatus, came after Israeli troops had already gained control of more than 60 percent of the territory. The Hamas-run Interior Ministry confirmed Al-Arabeed was captured during the raid, saying he was wounded before being detained and that his wife was killed and several children injured. The ministry did not identify his position within Hamas.

Netanyahu made clear Israel would continue pursuing Hamas leaders. “My directive is clear: The State of Israel will continue to pursue all Hamas leaders and everyone who took part in the October 7 massacre,” Netanyahu said. The Israeli military also killed Talal Mustafa Saleh Badawi, a commander in Hamas’s Military Security Department, and Momo Saeed Mohammed Hawari in a Sept. 2 airstrike, accusing them of advancing attacks and rebuilding military capabilities in violation of the October 2025 ceasefire.

The combined operations come amid a broader U.S.-backed proposal promoted by President Donald Trump, under which Hamas would transfer civilian governing responsibilities to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, a body composed of Palestinian technocrats. The proposal envisions Gaza’s demilitarization, describes the territory as becoming terror-free, and says humanitarian assistance would fully resume after hostilities end.

For Christians watching these events unfold, there is a clear spiritual dimension to this conflict. Scripture calls believers to pray for peace in Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and to intercede for those in authority. The fight against Hamas is not merely a geopolitical struggle but a battle that has cost thousands of lives, including more than 1,200 killed and 250 hostages seized in the October 7 attack. As Israel works to dismantle Hamas’s command structure and the United States works to cut off its funding, believers have an opportunity to pray for wisdom for leaders, comfort for the suffering, and a lasting peace that honors God’s justice and mercy.

Let us pray for the safety of Israeli forces and civilians, for wisdom for President Trump and U.S. officials as they combat terrorism financing, and for the families of hostages still waiting to be reunited with loved ones. May God grant strength to those working to prevent further bloodshed and bring peace to a region long torn by conflict.
