Internationally acclaimed worship leader and songwriter Matt Redman unveils his first-ever “live-studio” album, Life & Breath,
“In the past, I’ve made live records with a congregation and studio albums, but for this project, I wanted to try something different—a ‘live studio’ record. Recording at Gold Pacific Studios in Nashville allowed us to achieve the precision of a studio while still capturing the energy and breath of a live worship setting” says Matt Redman
Redman collaborated on this project with worship leaders from Joe L Barnes, CalledOut Music, Charity Gayle, as well as Quintin Trotter from Redman’s band and the Lipscomb University Gospel Choir. Each guest brings a fresh energy and depth to the songs.
Matt says of this album , “As always, these songs are just ways of talking to God – hopefully in a way that’s both reverent and relevant. If any of those songs help people see Jesus more clearly, then love Him more dearly—and ultimately follow Him more closely —then that’s mission accomplished.”
Matt does that perfectly with this 9 track album. You have a real sense that these songs have been written and recorded for someone to use as their personal songs of expressing how they feel to God. Yet for me these are brilliant songs for the church to sing together.
With this album being recorded in a studio but also live gives this album two dimensions, on one hand it creates an atmosphere of a raw and honest in the moment worship time, but also making sure the quality of the sound is as good as it can be.
There are so many great songs on here, “Hallowed Be” is a wonderful song with some amazing piano, ‘Life & Breath’ feels like a classic modern hymn. The song ‘Praise To The Most High’ is an instant anthem and “The God We Love (Nicene Creed)” is a modern musical interpretation of the 1,700-year-old Nicene Creed. I really enjoyed this album, it has such amazing songs that direct you towards the love of God.
