“Who made you? I did.” Exodus 3:12 (NIV Paraphrased)
God calls ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. When He called Moses, his first responses were excuses. “So if I go, you’ll go with me?” God’s answer: “I’ll go with you.” Then Moses said, “I don’t know what to say?” And God said, “I’ll tell you what to say.” Then Moses said, “What if they don’t believe me?” And God said, “It’s not your job.” Obedience, not results, is your responsibility. God will do what only He can do.
God reminds Moses, and us, that the power belongs to Him. When Moses obeyed, his staff became a snake and returned to a rod when he picked it up by the tail. When he placed his hand in his cloak, it became leprous, symbolizing death and separation. When he obeyed God and returned his hand, it was healed. Greater than Moses, we have experienced Christ’s work: the leprosy of sin has been removed through the cross. When we obey, God accomplishes the miraculous through us.
Excuse four: “I’m not capable. I’m not eloquent. I can’t do this.” God’s answer is simple: “Who made you?” The ability to fulfill His call is already in you. You may feel ordinary, limited, or inadequate, but God specializes in using ordinary people to do extraordinary work. If He calls you, He equips you. Your obedience releases His power.
How many of us keep waiting on God to come down and fix situations while He has already said, “Now go”? God’s answer is you. God’s answer is me. We are the Moses’ of this generation. He has heard the pain, the misery, the oppression, and now He is sending us into the world. This is why He has given us a voice, a ministry, and an assignment. If we do not go, nothing happens. But when we say, “Here am I, I’ll do it”, God comes down through our obedience.
Prayer: Father, I thank You that You do not call the perfect, but You equip the willing. I surrender my fears, my doubts, and my excuses to You today. Lord, help me to say, “Here am I, use me”, knowing that when I go, You go with me. Teach me to trust Your power, to obey Your call, and to step out in faith, even when I feel ordinary or incapable. Let my obedience release Your miraculous work in my life and in the lives of those around me. Thank You, Lord, for making me part of Your plan, for giving me the ability to do what You have called me to do, and for showing me that my yes brings Your presence and power into the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
