A far-left political group called the Democratic Socialists of America has released a sweeping plan that would tear down much of the way the U.S. government has worked since the nation’s founding. The group wants to get rid of the Senate, eliminate the presidency, replace the Supreme Court, cut military funding, and stop all aid to Israel. They are calling it “Workers Deserve More,” and they insist it is not extreme. But the details tell a different story.

For Christians who care about how this country is governed, who it stands with on the world stage, and how power is kept in check, this plan deserves a close look.

The DSA, according to the 2026 program, would “replace the two-party system with a multi-party democracy. Expand the House of Representatives, implement proportional representation and ranked choice voting in all elections, and abolish the Senate.”
DSA co-chair Ashik Siddique argued that getting rid of the Senate — which has functioned more or less as outlined by Article I, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution for 239 years — was not really an “extreme” position and would only serve to make the country “more democratic.”
“For the working class to govern, we need a new political system,” the DSA program reads. “End political corruption and legalized bribery: get rid of lobbyists, dark money, and Citizens United, and publicly finance all elections. Abolish the Electoral College. Replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.”
The plan was put together between April and June of 2026 and officially approved by the DSA’s leadership. In plain terms, the group wants Congress to have total control over the courts and the executive branch — wiping out the system of checks and balances that has kept any one part of the government from gaining too much power. The plan also calls for shutting down overseas military bases, ending U.S. military aid to Israel, and supporting international efforts to prosecute American soldiers for war crimes. On top of that, it pushes for open borders, amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally, a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, government takeover of large corporations, and heavy new taxes on wealthy Americans.
This is not just a wish list on paper. The DSA has been winning elections. New York City’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who ran with DSA support, has already said he is looking into whether he can have Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested based on charges from the International Criminal Court. Three more DSA-backed candidates in New York are about to take office, and the movement is growing in other parts of the country as well.
A few voices inside the Democratic Party have spoken out against this direction, including former Sen. Joe Manchin, Sen. John Fetterman, political strategist James Carville, and comedian Bill Maher. But many in the party are staying quiet, more focused on winning seats than on asking hard questions about what this movement actually believes.
The system of government the Founders built was not an accident. They separated power into three branches on purpose, because they knew what happens when one group gains unchecked control. The Bible speaks to this too, warning that rulers without accountability tend toward injustice. For us intercessors, the call to single out Israel for defunding is also alarming. God’s relationship with Israel is woven throughout Scripture, and standing with Israel has long been a cornerstone of our faith.
