Newly Released Audio Revives Questions About Biden’s Decline

Former President Joe Biden is once again facing scrutiny after newly released audio recordings appear to reveal significant memory lapses years before he entered the White House. The recordings have reignited questions not only about Biden’s cognitive health, but also about whether the public was given an accurate picture of his condition during his presidency.

Find out when your state prays.

    From The Federalist:

Ultimately Hur found “Biden’s memory was significantly limited” during both the interviews with Zwonitzer and Hur himself. Hur also concluded that “Mr. Biden’s recorded conversations with Zwonitzer from 2017 are often painfully slow, with Mr. Biden struggling to remember events and straining at times to read and relay his own notebook entries.”

The newly released tapes show Biden struggling to recall the names of two of his former economic advisers in April of 2017: “including the two guys who I think were with me, were — oh, God. The guy at Princeton now. Economist. Good guy, was our, our chief economic advisor. Not Kaufman. I’ll think of his name.” Biden later said: “I should write the names down because I keep forgetting them.”

    …

In another instance Biden couldn’t recall what he was going to say.

“What was I going to ask you?” Biden said. “Oh, gosh. I, I can’t think of what it is.”

The recordings stem from interviews Biden conducted with ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer in 2017, which later became evidence reviewed by Special Counsel Robert Hur during his investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents. Although Hur ultimately declined to recommend criminal charges, his report drew widespread attention for describing Biden as an “elderly man with a poor memory.” The newly released audio has renewed debate over whether those concerns were evident long before Biden sought and won the presidency in 2020.

The recordings have also revived criticism of the media’s coverage of Biden’s mental acuity. Throughout his presidency, many commentators dismissed concerns about his cognitive abilities, often characterizing videos highlighting verbal stumbles and memory lapses as misleading or politically motivated. Following Biden’s widely criticized debate performance in 2024 and his subsequent withdrawal from the presidential race, several journalists acknowledged they had underestimated the extent of his decline. Critics argue the newly released audio further undermines claims that Biden’s cognitive struggles emerged only near the end of his presidency.

The controversy raises broader questions about transparency and accountability in American government and media. Citizens depend on honest reporting and truthful communication from public officials to make informed decisions, particularly when evaluating those seeking the nation’s highest office. As believers, let’s pray that truth would prevail over deception, that those entrusted with informing the public would do so with integrity, and that America’s leaders would serve with wisdom, honesty, and accountability.

Share your prayers and scriptures for truth, integrity, and accountability in our nation in the comments.
