A New York-based organization with ties to the Biden administration is now facing a civil lawsuit in Kentucky after the state’s attorney general accused it of running a coordinated campaign to steer women toward illegal abortion pills. The lawsuit spotlights a growing battlefront between pro-life states and outside activist groups determined to circumvent state law — and raises urgent questions for Christians about the protection of life and the rule of law.

    From Daily Wire:

The civil lawsuit accuses New York-based Mayday Health, founded by a former Biden official, of violating Kentucky consumer protection laws by promoting access to abortion pills that state law prohibits from being mailed or delivered into the Bluegrass State.

The move comes after Mayday Health chartered a plane that flew over the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville last weekend, displaying a banner reading “Abortion Pills By Mail.” The group previously sponsored ads at gas stations across the state reading, “Pregnant? Don’t want to be? Learn more at Mayday Health.”

“These out-of-state activists are not only breaking Kentucky law, they seem to delight in rubbing our faces in it,” Coleman said. “The State Fair is a beloved Kentucky tradition for families and children to celebrate our Commonwealth. We refuse to allow Mayday to taint our values and put our people at risk.”

Kentucky Republican Attorney General Russell Coleman filed the lawsuit, arguing that Mayday’s advertisements violate state consumer protection laws by directing residents to providers that will covertly ship abortion drugs into the state. The suit asks a judge to permanently block Mayday from running similar promotions in Kentucky and to impose fines on the organization. Coleman’s office had been investigating Mayday since January, when the group began sponsoring advertisements at gas stations in Christian, Simpson, and Logan counties.

Mayday Health does not distribute abortion pills itself, but its website directs women to outside providers and offers instructions for obtaining the drugs through telehealth appointments and mail-forwarding services. The site also provides guidance on minimizing users’ digital footprints. Mayday co-founder Leo Raisner, who previously worked as traveling content director for President Joe Biden’s Office of Digital Strategy, denied wrongdoing and said the organization looks forward to defending its “First Amendment protected work in court.” The group argues it shares constitutionally protected information rather than selling or distributing pills directly.

Beyond the abortion access issue, Mayday’s website also promotes organizations that facilitate so-called “gender-affirming care,” widening the scope of concern for parents and pro-family advocates. The pro-life organization Kentucky Right to Life, which spotted the airplane banner over the state fair, condemned the group’s tactics. Executive Director Addia Wuchner said Mayday is pushing “dangerous abortion drugs” into Kentucky and vowed the organization would continue to stand firm and protect life.

For Christians who believe that life begins at conception and is a sacred gift from God, this lawsuit represents more than a legal dispute. It reflects the ongoing effort by outside activists to undo the will of states and their citizens who have chosen to protect unborn life. Psalm 139:13-16 reminds us that God knits each person together in the womb and that every life is known by Him before birth. When organizations actively work to circumvent state laws designed to protect that life — and do so brazenly over a family fair — believers are called to respond not with despair but with renewed intercession. The battle for life is ultimately a spiritual one, and prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God’s people have.

Let us pray for Attorney General Russell Coleman as he pursues this case, for the courts to uphold Kentucky’s right to protect its citizens and its unborn children, and for the women who may be reached by Mayday’s advertising — that they would encounter compassion, truth, and genuine support rather than a pill shipped in secret. May God protect the unborn in Kentucky and across this nation, and may those who work to circumvent life-protecting laws be met with the full force of justice.
